William ‘Bill’ Joseph Harbison Sr., ‘the candy man’

William “Bill” Joseph Harbison Sr., 83, of Frankford, formerly of Linwood, Pa., passed suddenly at his home Monday, Sept. 2, 2019.

 Born in Darby, Pa., July 3, 1936, he was one of nine children born to the late Leonard and Marie (Bruton) Harbison. Bill served in the Air Force from 1955-57. He worked as an instrument technician at the refinery in Delaware.

Bill was a longtime Linwood resident, retiring to Frankford where he enjoyed crabbing. He was very sociable, and would strike up a conversation with anyone and made friends easily. Bill was known for handing out candy; he was referred to as the “candy man” where he worked, and continued to have candy available to give anywhere he went.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Eugenia “Geanie” M. (Ambrose) Harbison; and son William J. Harbison Jr. 

Bill is survived by his wife Beulah; his daughters Desiree Bundick of Ocean View and Lizette Robinson of Linwood; stepchildren, Debbie and Rick; granddaughters Chantelle, Rebekah and Brittany; grandsons William 3rd, Glenn and Josh; step-grandchildren Billy, Sarah, Christy and Josh; and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Ed Harbison.

Memorial services will be held Monday, Sept. 9, at noon, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Interment with military honors will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood.
