William F. Miller, veteran, federal retire
William “Bill” F. Miller, 82, of Rehoboth Beach and Arlington, Va., passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025.
Born Oct. 28, 1942, in Charleroi, Pa., he was the son of the late Mary Louise (Leach) Miller and William P. Miller. After graduating from high school, Bill moved to Washington, D.C., where he attended George Washington University and American University. He began a distinguished career with the U.S. government, which included assignments at the White House, U.S. Navy Department, U.S. Agency for International Development, and several other federal agencies.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Bill served in the D.C. Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Force from 1963-69. His government work took him across the globe, including postings in Saudi Arabia, Honduras, South Korea, and numerous countries throughout Central and South America and the Far East.
After retiring from public service, Bill resided in Rehoboth Beach, where he enjoyed a second career as a personal trainer at Firm Fitness Center and Gold’s Gym. He had a deep passion for fitness, theater, dancing, traveling, and entertaining friends.
He is survived by his life partner of 45 years, Joseph T. Mirabella; his sister, MaryAnn Dortenzo, and her husband David; his nieces, Erica Russo and her husband Severn of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Marissa Dortenzo and her husband Brandon Osekowski of Dana Point, Calif.; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Services will be private.
