Women’s Club of Milton awards scholarships

July 1, 2021

Two young women who are graduates of Cape Henlopen High School were recipients of Women’s Club of Milton scholarships.

Each senior was awarded $1,500. The recipients this year are Josie Mulveny and Abigail Reese. The candidates were judged on academics, activities and community service.

Mulveny was active in the Gamer’s Club, coached students for Odyssey of the Mind, mentored younger students, and served as an assistant to a high school science teacher. She plans to major in psychology at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. She would like to pursue a career in animal therapy, especially working to help children with autism.

Reese has been very active in her church youth group. She volunteered to travel to communities in North Carolina and West Virginia that were affected by natural disasters. She also performed in the Salisbury orchestra, playing the oboe. She will major in psychology at Immaculata University in Pennsylvania. She plans to further her education by attending law school and pursue her dream of practicing as an adoption attorney.

Each young lady spoke briefly about her future plans at the WCOM’s annual installation luncheon held at 1776 Steakhouse.

The members of the Women’s Club of Milton wish both these young women success beyond their dreams.
