Women’s Club of Milton supports the Shepherd’s Office

January 29, 2023

In observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, members of the Women’s Club of Milton collected supplies for The Shepherd’s Office in Georgetown.

As part of the club’s 50th anniversary celebration this year, WCOM members plan to complete 50 acts of service and kindness in the community. The Shepherd’s Office collection kicks off this initiative.

WCOM Executive Secretary Diane Bitterle spearheaded the effort. More than 125 items, including various foodstuffs, flashlights, hand warmers and zip-top plastic bags, were delivered to the nonprofit Jan. 16. Shepherd’s Office Director Jim Martin gave members a tour of the facility. The Shepherd’s Office provides meals each day for people who are homeless, hungry and lonely. Supplies such as sleeping bags, tents and winter clothing are made available to those in need in the area as well.

The Women's Club of Milton is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, one of the world’s oldest and largest women's service organizations dedicated to community improvement through volunteer service.
