Wyatt-Dix donates $2,000 to to Alzheimer's Association

February 8, 2016

After experiencing her mother’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, Dr. Betty Wyatt-Dix wrote a children's book called, ”Where’s My Grandmom, and What Did You Do With Her?” Bonnie Haines Voshell provided the illustrations.

Wyatt-Dix will donate all the proceeds from this book to Alzheimer’s research. She has already donated $2,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association, and recently presented an additional $2,000 to the organization. The books can be purchased in Dover at Forney’s Too or at Allison’s Card Smart in Milford.

Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S., and there are more than 5 million Americans with the disease. Age is the greatest risk factor, with one person in nine who reaches the age of 65 developing Alzheimer’s disease, while one person in three who reaches the age of 85 will develop the disease.
