YMCA canned food and clothing drive continues thru Nov. 21

November 3, 2025

The YMCA of Delaware is calling on the community to support families in need through its annual canned food and clothing drive, continuing through Friday, Nov. 21, at all Y locations statewide.

Cape Region residents can drop off donations during regular operating hours at the Sussex Family YMCA, 20080 Church St., Rehoboth Beach.

Nonperishable food needed includes pasta, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, canned tuna, soups and other shelf-stable items. Winter clothing being collected includes coats, hats, scarves, gloves and other cold-weather essentials. Donations will benefit local organizations that provide essential resources to Delawareans.

This year’s food and clothing drive comes at a pivotal moment for families across Delaware. Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has notified states that the continuation of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits is uncertain for November.

“In times like these, the YMCA of Delaware is stepping up to help,” said Jarrett Royster, YMCA of Delaware president and CEO. “Together, we can fill the gap. Every can, coat and contribution helps make sure our neighbors have what they need this winter.”
