On the morning of March 29, I experienced chest pains and was advised by my physician, Dr. Uday Jani, to go to Beebe’s emergency room. My wife and I got there within 30 minutes. Upon arrival I was immediately triaged and accessed by the very professional and empathetic staff of nurses and doctors. My cardiologist, Dr. Prasad, determined that I should have a angiogram, which discovered the problem. A 23-year-old stent needed to be bypassed. In addition, it was determined that my seven-year-old pacemaker was ready for replacement.
They also determined that the medication I was taking would require me to stay in the hospital seven days until that medication (Plavix) would be eliminated, so as to create the essential blood platelets that would be required for a successful bypass. I could have transferred to another hospital that could have done the operation sooner, but I opted to remain at Beebe.
The attention I received from the very beginning was incredibly professional, sincere and caring. The entire staff of doctors, nurses, nurse trainees and all the Beebe support staff was absolutely astounding and friendly. I’m now on day eight, and my pacemaker has been replaced by Dr. Maria Pia Del Corral. My bypass was performed by Dr. Steven Marra and his PA Brian. The operation went well, and I’m now in the ICU. A special note of thanks to Jennifer and Bryan, my ICU nurses, who guided me through the healing process. I know I’ve got a long-haul recovery ahead, but I’m confident that I’m in supportive hands that will advise and guide me.
Needless to say, you’re in good hands at Beebe Healthcare.
