Youth tech workforce development program set June 16

June 15, 2021

The Sussex County STEM Alliance will host a virtual social hour featuring Patrick Callihan of Tech Impact at 5 p.m., Wednesday, June 16, highlighting one of the most innovative internship programs in the state.

The SCSA is committed to raising awareness of the many STEM careers that exist in Sussex County.

According to industry leader CompTIA, the tech industry is expected to be among the top three industries for projected employment growth post-pandemic. By 2030, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects employment numbers in the tech industry to reach 9 million. Tech Impact’s workforce development program, ITWorks, equips disadvantaged youth in underserved areas with technology skills to build a brighter future.

Tech Impact’s ITWorks has been recognized for its creative approach to helping match employers across industries with local technology talent through its unique mentor and internship program.

The virtual meeting will be held via Zoom. Anyone interested in learning more about technology opportunities for youth in Sussex County is invited to attend.

RSVPs are required in order to receive the link and passcode for the event.
