Zap Pro/Am World Championships of Skimboarding hit Dewey

Ashmore and Nguyen win the pro event

The 39th annual Zap Pro/Am World Championships of Skimboarding took place Aug. 13-15 on Bellevue Street in Dewey Beach.

Medals and prize bags were awarded to the top four competitors in all amateur divisions. Cash prizes were given to the top six finishers in men's professional and top four finishers in the women's professional divisions.

Will Ashmore took top honors in the men’s pro division. Second went to Dane Cameron, while third was taken by Gerardo Valencia. Sam McCoy garnered fourth and Lucas McCoy grabbed fifth.

Sophia Nguyen won the women’s pro division, with Alex Yokley taking second place.

Aidan Stevenson won the semi-pro division, while Sydney Pizza took first in the women’s division.

Rylea Sinex won the junior women’s division, with Eve Redefer taking first in the girls’ division.

Joe Ward won the senior grandmasters division, while Frank Fernandez won the grandmasters division and Jesse Burlew won masters.

Senior men’s was won by David Dougherty, junior men’s was won by Alex Sheckells, and Cooper Forcucci placed first in the boys’ division.

The menehune division was won by Colton Ettwien, while Giorgio Tomasi took first in the mini division.
