Zwaanendael women to raffle lighthouse replica at Dec. 7 boutique

December 1, 2019

The GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club will hold a holiday raffle and boutique from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Ellegood House at the Lewes Historical Society campus, 110 Shipcarpenter Square.

Activities include a gift boutique and bake sale; 26-inch bike, gift baskets, and 50/50 raffles; and a wine-tasting silent auction item which includes a wine refrigerator.

Also being raffled are two gift card trees containing cards from local restaurants and businesses, valued at over $500 each. Tickets are three for $20 and can be purchased the day of the event or by emailing zclublewes@gmail.com.

The public can also bid on a replica of the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse. Located off Cape Henlopen and loved by all, the 93-year-old lighthouse has been replicated by Lewes resident Rich Robertson for this fundraiser. It stands over 30 inches tall and has a working solar-powered light.

This is the second Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse replica Robertson has created, and he pays great attention to detail in all of his projects. The first replica is located in Cervia, Italy, as part of the Lewes in Bloom garden planted there earlier this year by members.

The lighthouse will be on display in the Second Street Citizens Bank window in Lewes through Thursday, Dec. 5, before being moved to Ellegood House.

The GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and a nonprofit corporation. Proceeds from this event help fund programs that serve and improve the community.
