‘Ladybugs’ Adventure’ author to read at Milford festival April 27

Author L. Gianforte will read her latest children’s book, “The Ladybugs’ Adventure: A Read-to-Me Book of Numbers,” at the Bug & Bud Festival set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 27, in downtown Milford. Readings will be held at 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m., and 3:15 p.m. in the kid zone.

The festival will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the designation of the ladybug as the Delaware State Bug. Festivities kick off with a people and pet parade. 

All bounce houses and children’s games are free this year, courtesy of DMI, Shawn Collins State Farm and Avenue United Methodist Church.

“The Ladybugs’ Adventure” tells the story of a group of ladybugs who explore the world beyond their neighborhood. On their travels, they meet a diversity of creatures unlike themselves. They soon realize that differences make the world a richer and more colorful place.

Geared to children who are learning to count – and who love ladybugs – the read-aloud book is written with a lyrical rhythm that appeals to both reader and listener.

Colorful paintings by award-winning artist Eileen Blodgett illustrate the book. As an additional educational component, fun facts about ladybugs follow the story.
