Caring Community Closet Pop Up Thrift Shop

Sussex Academy junior Adelle Leebel requested donations of previously loved clothing, shoes and accessories from the Sussex Academy community.

In March she used those donations to create a Caring Community Closet Pop Up Thrift Shop where the collected items were sold for $1 per pound. Over 400 pounds of clothing, shoes and accessories were sold and over $1,000 was raised for Children & Families First.

  • Sussex Academy is a public charter, tuition free school offering an accelerated academic program for the students of Delaware in grades kindergarten through twelve. The elementary program is based on high academic expectations and a hands-on, integrated approach to learning. The secondary academic programs follow an instructional model that uses the successes of past best practices in interdisciplinary curriculum and project-based learning in the middle school grades and AP (Advanced Placement) courses for the high school grades.

Our students achieve high academic performance through critical, independent thinking and reflection and develop social consciousness through service and community partnerships. The school is very proud of its talented and highly qualified staff that has developed and maintains a challenging curriculum in a supportive and caring environment for its students.
