Summer League Games for Week One

 

Elementary Division

 

On Monday night the elementary division opened play with the Dunes defeating the Guards by a final of 3-0. Bre Elliott (2) and Lily Bisaha did the scoring for the Dunes. In the second game of the evening, The Tides and the Waves played to a 1-10 result. Catherine Peranteau had the goal for the Waves in the second half to earn the tie while Ellen Ramsey had given the Tides the half time lead with her earlier goal.

On Wednesday evening the Tides exploded for a 6-0 victory over the Guards. Scoring goals for the Tides were:  Avery Bare (2), Layla Conn and Shea Danahy (3). In the other game in the division, the Waves and Dunes played to a 0-0 behind the goalkeeping of Aubrey Hersheman and Myla Smith.

The division returns to action on the turf at Cape Henlopen HS on Monday, June 18 with the Tides vs the Dunes and the Guards vs the Waves.

Senior Division

Opening night of the senior division first had the Pumas outlast the Artics by a final of 5-4. The game was full of end to end action with both goalies ( Marlee Geppert and Mya Parks) seeing plenty of shots. Lily Manlove (2) and Brynn McCabe (2) did the scoring for the Artics while Anna Harrington, Julia Hollenbeck, and Carey Karl (3) had the goals for the Pumas. The second game was as close as the opening game with the Seahawks outlasting the Baffins by a final of 3-2. Cami Cook, Kylee LaVere and Lyndsey Weller had goals for the Seahawks and Taylor Smith had a pair of goals for the Baffins. The goalies for the game were Mykala Smith and Julie Heffernan. Game three of the evening was an outstanding team effort by the Corals and the Bengals as they battled to a 0-0 standoff. The goalies providing the shut outs were Eve Sekscinski and Mycah Smith.

League play continued on Wednesday evening with the Bengals defeating the Artics by a final of 6-0. Lacy Bayley (3) and LeeLee Wilson (3) had the goals for the Bengals and the goalies in the game were Mya Parks and Mykala Smith. The second game of the night featured a lot of scoring in the opening half with the Seahawks going out to a 3-2 lead. Amanda Sponaugle scored her second goal of the night midway through the second half to give the Seahawks some breathing room for a final of 4-2. Rylee Pettyjohn, Lyndsey Weller added to the pair of goals by Sponaugle for the Seahawks while Madi Irwin and Marissa Conte did the scoring for the Corals. Goalkeepers for the game were Allyson Clark and Eve Sekscinski. The final game of the week ended in a 2-2 result but midway through the second half it looked like the Pumas were in control with a pair of Carey Karl goals but Avery Congleton and Sierra Manifold managed to score late in the half to earn the tie for the Baffins. Goalies in the game were Caylee Schmidt and Regan Best.

The league continues with games between the Baffins and the Corals at 6:45 followed by the Seahawks vs the Artics and finishing with the Bengals vs the Pumas.
