Here's What's Happening This Weekend in Coastal Delaware
With the hope that Mother Nature has resumed taking her medication and spring will begin to feel more like spring, we bring you this week’s edition of the “Weekender Blog,” brought to you, as always, by the Oldfather Group of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty in Rehoboth Beach.
Some fun-filled things are on tap for this middle weekend of April 2016, highlighted by the award-winning Ocean to Bay Bike Tour in Bethany Beach. This is always a fan favorite, for both locals and visitors, and provides a substantial economic boost to coastal Delaware in the early spring season each year.
But while bicyclists will be dominating the landscape on Saturday, there are certainly plenty of other things to see and do in the area. There’s an event for the country music fans in the crowd, another for aspiring photographers and yet another for lovers of local history.
And don’t forget about the Walk for Autism in beautiful Lewes. A condition that affects more and more families each and every year, walks like this one not only bring awareness to autism but also raise money for programs and research. If you’re free on Saturday, please consider supporting this worthwhile local cause.
And as always, keep in touch with your local chamber of commerce or tourism office to stay abreast of what is happening here at the Delaware beaches. Suffice it to say, there is ALWAYS plenty to see and do in coastal Delaware.
For the weekend of April 15-17, here are a few of our favorite local happenings:
Ocean to Bay Bike Tour (April 16). This is one of coastal Delaware’s premier spring events and features hundreds of bicyclists completing one of four courses – either a 30-mile, a 50-mile, a metric century or a century route. Organized by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, this award-winning local event is held rain or shine and will only be cancelled in the event of extreme weather. All routes begin and end in Bethany Beach and, as always, completion of the route is not mandatory. The Ocean to Bay Bike Tour is officially scheduled for 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday and includes an after-party with music, food, door prizes and more.
