KIDS & CARBS

Kids love carbs. Kids love color. Kids love choice.

Kids thrive when they eat a whole variety of colorful, hi-carb vegetables, fruits, beans and whole grains.

Put them together for healthy, satisfying kid-created pizzas.

VEGGIE PIZZA

Start with 100% whole grain pita rounds.

Spread with favorite SOS (salt-free, oil-free, sugar-free) tomato sauce.

Provide variety of colorful SOS veggies (fresh, frozen or canned). Be sure to include starchy veg slices like cooked potato, squash, carrots, as well as starchy grains like corn and starchy beans like chick peas, black beans and kidney beans. These starchy foods are loaded with carbs necessary for energy and health.

Add herbs and spices to taste.

FRUIT PIZZA

Start with 100% whole grain pita rounds.

Spread with favorite jam or fruit spread.

Provide variety of colorful SOS fruits (fresh, frozen or canned).

Add a shake of cinnamon or fresh mint leaves to taste.

Bake Veggie and Fruit Pizzas at 400 for at least 10 minutes.

*****

No meat, no dairy, no oil, no problem!

Good for kids and Grandmas, too!
