Traverse City Adventure: today’s total broke 1,000 miles

September 10, 2017

DAY 30 • 10 SEPTEMBER 2017 • MUSKEGON

The Pentwater River flows into Lake Michigan here.  Can’t tell you much about the town except the season is coming to a close and the town is getting quiet quickly. We rode 45 miles to get here, much of it on the smooth-surfaced Hart- Montague Trail.  The flora is beginning to change as we make our way north northward.  And when the sun sets, the temperature sinks along with it.  This is our third straight night of camping and I’m loving it.  Hearing kids playing outdoors on their bikes, smelling campfires burning and listening to the sounds of easy conversation as we fall asleep is pleasant.

Two nights back some of the conversation revolved around the Northern lights.  Haven’t seen them yet but maybe we will.  If we do, that will be a first for me.

Lots of vibrant public art on the way into the little town of Whitehall.  I’ve included some photos here to show some examples.

Today’s miles put us over the 1,000 mile mark for this journey.  A lot happens in that span of time.  Our trip started one month ago on Saturday.  The total is now 1,015. Enjoying almost all of them.  The hills and dogs get a little old but there haven’t been too many of them, thankfully.

We will make Traverse City this week and then spend some time in this neck of the woods.

Thanks again for reading.  We live in an amazing country.

(Internet very slow here tonight.  I’ll post some more photos to this blog on Monday.)
