Winding Road to the Winery

December 2, 2016

I recently listened to a TED talk by Nassau Valley Vineyard owner Peggy Raley Ward, and it got me thinking about what an amazing asset the vineyard is. It’s beautiful, the boulevard is tree lined, the small hills of the valley are beaded with grape vines, the outbuildings are rustic and tasteful. It’s nestled between farmland that is quickly being developed but keeps a certain piece of history alive in our town. I miss Knapps Nassau Orchard, I am glad the building still lives and hope some day it will come alive again, tastefully, but mostly I pray it doesn't get sold and torn down. In a town where everyone is racing to fill the open space with little boxes made of ticky tacky, this space is an oasis. Thanks Peggy. Cheers!
