UUSD will journey to Neverland for annual auction set April 16

March 28, 2016

The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware in Lewes will host its annual auction starting at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 16, the first in the congregation's spacious new home on the wooded property on Route 9.

This year’s theme, Journey to Neverland, was inspired by the playful adventures of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and their friends. The Neverland theme captures both the fun and imagination of past events. A warm invitation is extended to the larger community to attend and dress up as a favorite Neverland character and be part of a costume contest with a $50 cash prize.

There will be silent and live auctions with a variety of unique and diverse items including artwork, handcrafted items, vacation getaways, jewelry, glassware, scrumptious dinners and much more. A 50/50 raffle, wine and light fare round out a memorable evening. A small entrance donation of $5 is requested.

Auction coordinator Barbara Barnette said, “UUSD’s annual auction is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to both enjoy themselves and to help UUSD carry out its mission in the community. We are especially grateful for the generosity of so many area businesses, friends, and members who donate wonderful goods and services to make our annual auction a huge success."

Proceeds from the auction will support the mission of the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware to nurture spiritual growth, embrace diversity, work for justice and strive for a loving world. UUSD has been an active member of the community for nearly 20 years providing local support in many ways, such as helping homeless and hungry Cape Henlopen School District families and advocating for clean water for all residents of Ellendale.

The auction will be held at UUSD, 30486 Lewes Georgetown Highway, Lewes. For directions and information about UUSD, go to www.uussd.org. For more information, contact Barbara Barnette at 443-944-7379 or windstarbarb@yahoo.com.
