Easter Seals expands Caregiver Resource Center to Sussex
Easter Seals has expanded its Caregiver Resource Center to its Georgetown location to help serve more caregivers across a larger area. It is available to families who need assistance navigating through the many resources available for caregivers. The center, which serves those caring for children and adults, is partially funded by Delaware Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities.
The center offers an on-site case manager available to guide caregivers along what can feel like a very daunting path. For more information on any caregiver or respite services, contact Ginny Huerta-Kellam at 302-253-1129 or vhuertakellam@esdel.org.
The Easter Seals Georgetown CRC is at 22317 DuPont Blvd. and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday and Friday. The CRC can connect caregivers to assistive technology and home modifications, and provides funding for modification and respite services. The center also holds caregiver support groups.
According to the National Alliance for Caregiving, there are more than 66 million family caregivers in the U.S. - nearly 40 percent of the U.S. adult population. One of the greatest needs of these caregivers is respite or a temporary relief to caregivers and families who are caring for children or adults with disabilities, chronic or terminal illness or the elderly. Easter Seals CRC can help caregivers get the answers they need.
Easter Seals Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore offers a range of services, including children’s therapies, assistive technology, recreational camping, day programs for adults with physical or intellectual disabilities and respite services for caregivers.
