Thursday evening Summer Spirituality Series programs begin in Lewes June 2

May 18, 2016

The Summer Spirituality Series at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will return at 7 p.m., Thursdays starting June 2. Seekers of spiritual topics and a respite from the bustle of summer will find a haven in the presentations in the church parish hall at 211 Mulberry St., Lewes. After the programs, there will be brief question-and-answer sessions and a social time with ice cream.

The Rev. Jeffrey Ross, rector of St. Peter’s, said all are welcome to attend these events designed to encourage reflection and dialogue. Based on evaluations of last year’s presentations, some speakers will return this year, while new presenters have been invited to speak on a variety of topics.

The first session on June 2 will feature the Rev. Tom Ledbetter and Donna Ledbetter, therapists at Brandywine Pastoral Institute in Lewes, presenting a program on intimacy, Top 10 Ways to Deepen Intimacy in a Committed Relationship.

June 9, “An IBC Messiah,” a special performance by the Immanuel Bach Consort, will be held in the church. IBC is the resident early music ensemble at Immanuel Church on the Green in New Castle. “An IBC Messiah” is the creative work of musical director Gary Harney, combining arias and choruses from Handel’s “Messiah” with related chorales by J.S. Bach. IBC will be accompanied by people playing period instruments, including Baroque violinist Sylvia Ahramjian. There are no advance ticket sales; a free-will offering will be received at the door.
