Milton Arts Guild to host The Art of Graphite Aug. 17
To learn how to draw, we must first learn to look without preconceptions. In The Art of Graphite, a class offered at 7 p.m.Wednesday, Aug. 17 by the Milton Arts Guild, participants will practice this artist's way of looking and drawing from observation and experiment with a number of drawing techniques that have been used by artists over the centuries.
This class is geared for beginners but is suitable for those who wish to refresh their drawing skills or just need a class or assignment to get them going. Participants will be shown how to construct an appealing composition using some simple rules and will be doing some fun drawing exercises to unlock inner creativity. Learn to draw in easy steps beginning with basic shapes and applying value or shading to create a three-dimensional images.
Instructor Anne Buck, a watercolorist, infuses design and creativity. In her working career she used her design/drawing skills as a Conservationist for Erosion and Sediment Control designing conservation practices such as waterways, ditches, and ponds. She worked for Jennifer Thompson Architects for several years measuring and drafting homes for renovation. Then lastly as a science teacher for Cape Henlopen School District. She has studied watercolor with nationally recognized artists such as Mary Whyte, Charles Reid and Janet Rogers.
Buck is a member of the Delaware Watercolor Society, the Rehoboth Art League, Millsboro Art League, and is the vice president of the Milton Art Guild all in Delaware. Her work is on display at the various art Leagues, the Savannah Inn in Lewes, DE. and periodically in shows throughout the beach communities. The classes are small so call to reserve your chair. This class is designed for participants 14 years and older.
The Milton Arts Guild will be hosting this class at the Milton Arts Guild located at 310 Walnut St., Milton. The class runs approximately 2 hours and cost is $35 per student in advance, $40 at the door.
