Pig Pickin’ to feature Tydewater Entertainment
He grew up in a musical family in Felton and is an ex-Marine who has seen a large part of the world. Now Ty Sherwood and his group bring their love of country music to entertain audiences around Delaware and Maryland.
Sherwood and The Tydewater Band will add good music to all the food and fun Friday, May 20, at The Hub Club Rotary’s annual Pig Pickin’ Hoedown in Harrington. The event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Price Community Center (formerly the Harrington New Century Club) on Dorman Street.
According to Sherwood, living room jam sessions were a part of his life for as long as he can remember, and he grew up loving the songs of such country music greats as Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and George Jones. A high point of his military career was sharing the stage with Lee Greenwood at a USO performance in Naples, Italy.
Now he and his group share their music live on Delmarva and occasionally perform in Nashville at Tootsies, the Second Fiddle and Robert’s Western World. They look forward to providing music at the Hub Club’s event.
This year’s menu features a pig roast, smoked turkey and a variety of side dishes, desserts and beverages. Silent and live auctions will also be a part of the evening.
Tickets, $20, are available now from any Rotary member or by calling 302-335-2750.
Pig Pickin’ proceeds benefit the Harrington-Greenwood-Felton Centennial Rotary Club’s community service projects.
