Picnic in the Park set Oct. 2 in Lewes
The weather forecast is perfect for Picnic in the Park set for 12 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2, in Lewes Canalfront Park. Mother Nature forced a postponement of the June 5 date, and tickets purchased for the original date will be honored, whether in paper or online form. The park is at 211 Front St. in historic Lewes on the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.
This fun, old-fashioned community event is even bigger and better this year with food, beverages and activities for the entire family. Picnic in the Park is the only annual fundraising event for Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park, with all proceeds going toward ongoing enhancements and upkeep of this beautiful public space.
Some 16 of the best restaurants in Lewes, including several exciting new participants, will offer tastings of their signature gourmet dishes. Wine by R&L Liquors and brews by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery will be available to those who are 21 or older. Non-alcoholic beverages will be plentiful.
Kids will be entertained with old-fashioned carnival games with prizes, face painting, a balloon artist, clowns and the park's playground. A DJ will be spinning tunes. This year's event offers a new, fun twist with Games for Grown-Ups that the adults are sure to enjoy.
Adult admission is $10 in advance ($15 at the door) and $5 for kids 12 and under. Food and beverage tickets are $2 each at the event, with most items being one or three tickets each.
