White's Chapel United Methodist Church will have its annual homecoming service at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30. In celebration of the church building's 95th anniversary, the keynote speaker will be author and former Delaware State Archivist Russ McCabe. In addition, special music from the early 1920s will be performed by Gloria Holland of Magnolia, and Catherine and the Rev. Everett Isaacs of Bridgeville. Newly-appointed Pastor Josh Gillen will welcome back members and friends of the church, and will be the spiritual leader at the first homecoming service of his career. A catered dinner will follow the service. White's Chapel Methodist Church was founded in 1838 in a schoolhouse located on a farm near the present church. Two previous church buildings were destroyed by fire in 1871 and 1920 before the current church building was built in 1921.
