Rachel Grier-Reynolds joins Lewes Public Library board
Rachel Grier-Reynolds, a Sussex County native, has been selected by the Lewes Public Library Board of Commissioners to fill the vacancy left by departing member Thomas Hall.
Grier-Reynolds holds a BA in political science from the University of Delaware and an MSW from Delaware State University. Her professional background includes 20-plus years of serving children, families and veterans throughout Delaware as a licensed clinical social worker.
Having taken her civic responsibility quite seriously, Grier-Reynolds has a track record of decades of voluntary public service and community activism. She has served on a variety of boards; most notably as director of the Greater Lewes Foundation (2002-09), a trustee of the University of Delaware (1978-96), and a board member for both the Delaware State Arts Council (1978-93) and the Delaware Humanities Council (1982-84).
Currently, Grier-Reynolds serves on the Lewes Historic Preservation Commission, is a tentation member of the Historic Lewes Famers Market, is board president of the Latino Initiative on Restorative Justice, and is co-coordinator of AVP Delaware (Alternatives to Violence Project) at the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown.
In welcoming Grier-Reynolds, LPL Board President Hugh Leahy said, "Rachel's community involvements and experience will bring valuable knowledge and depth to the board of the Lewes Public Library."
