Reception with artist Jennifer Littleton set Oct. 29

Workshop to be held Nov. 11-12
October 20, 2017

Jennifer Littleton will appear at a meet-the-artist session from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29, at Mispillion Art League Gallery in Milford. She will present a two-session watercolor workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 11 and 12. Workshop attendees may be interested in attending the reception to hear Littleton speak and explain her process.

Attendees will learn how a realistic watercolor artist creates atmospheric perspective, and how to layer washes to create more realistic and intense colors and values.  Littleton will reveal her process of how she begins with a preliminary drawing and light washes to develop her works into realistic images. Students will enjoy learning these concepts through discussion and demonstration, and they will practice executing flat and graded washes.

In addition, students will learn the meaning and uses of color theory to enhance depth of field in their paintings. Further, participants can bring in images (taken with a strong light source) of subject matter that interests them, from which to develop a painting. This class open to those ages 16 and up. Pupils of all ability levels will be inspired and revitalized by attending.

The cost for members is $185; nonmembers pay $225. Participants must register by Thursday, Nov. 2.  To sign up, call 302-430-7646 or go to www.mispillionarts.org/event/realistic-watercolor-via-transparent-washes/.
