Second Annual Delaware Wine & Beer Festival on tap for Oct. 23

Does anything pair better with Delaware-made wines and beers than acoustic guitar music played by a Delaware musician now with his own private wine label? Producers of the 2nd Annual Delaware Wine and Beer Festival invite the public to come taste and hear for itself from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, at Pizzadili Winery and Vineyards south of Dover.
Unplugged and Uncorked is a new enterprise by southern Delaware resident Paul Cullen. Cullen has been a musician for more than 30 years, most notably as the bassist for English rock group Bad Company during the early 1990s.
At the pinnacle of his career, Cullen performed in front of more than 2 million people. Since then, he has followed his true passions: playing nylon string jazzy cool acoustic guitar and creating his very own wine label, Sonata, from the Sierra Foothills in California.
"We cannot think of a more fitting partnership than bringing Paul Cullen to the Delaware Wine and Beer Festival, not only as an accomplished musician who will entertain festival-goers, but also to provide information about and samples of Sonata wines," said Lorraine Dion, director of special events and public relations for Kent County Tourism, producers of the festival.
Cullen's participation at the Delaware Wine & Beer Festival is one stop on his Mid-Atlantic tour this fall to promote not only his new wine label but his latest music release, "Eleven Sundays." His wine selection includes Sonata Rosso (Syrah, Zinfandel and Cab Franc fusion) and Sonata Bianco (crisp Pinot Grigio).
The Delaware Wine & Beer Festival will feature all wineries and breweries located in Delaware including 16 Mile Brewing Company, Georgetown; Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Milton; Evolution Craft Brewing, Delmar; Fenwick Wine Cellars, Fenwick Island; Fordham/Dominion Brewing Company, Dover; Nassau Valley Vineyards, Lewes; Pizzadili Vineyard & Winery, Felton; Stewarts Brewing Company, Bear; Twin Lakes Brewery, Greenville; and Unplugged & Uncorked, Sonata Wines, Millsboro. A keg-tossing competition, winery tours, corn hole tournaments and the Delaware Artisan Faire will round out the day's activities.
Sponsors to date include Delaware Wine & Ale Trail, Cabot Creamery, Beer Connoisseur magazine, Draft magazine and Kent County Tourism.
