Lunch with a Purpose raises over $11,000 for the Harry K Foundation

September 22, 2018

Lunch with a Purpose was held at the Baywood Greens Clubhouse Sept. 5 to benefit the Harry K Foundation. The 227 women in attendance helped raise a total of $11,596 to assist the Harry K Foundation in it’s mission to feed underprivileged children and their families in Delaware. The luncheon included a speech by Harry Keswani, founder and president of the Harry K Foundation.

Currently, the Harry K foundation has established, and continues to fund, 35 food pantries in Delaware schools and facilities. The foundation also funds 675 children with food backpacks that are sent home every Friday during the school year. The cost to feed a child for one year through the Backpack Program is $168. This program is an excellent opportunity for individuals and groups to make donations.

Lunch with a Purpose is a gathering of 200 to 250 women who meet once a month from September through May. Each meeting supports a different local nonprofit organization in Sussex County with 100 percent of the funds raised going directly to the charity of the month. The organization has a membership list of over 1,000 women, and also collects food for the Delaware Food Bank at each event, making the Lunch with a Purpose organization the single largest contributor to the food bank.
