The number 13 was unlucky for the Seaford Middle School field hockey team, as that was the total of goals Mariner put on them Oct. 15 at the Milton campus.
Tatum Friend and Cailyn Bledsoe tallied five goals each, while Mackinzie Brown, Grace Wiggins and Jilliyn Citro each tallied a goal.
Brown had four assists, while Wiggins and Friend each had one helper. Mariner goalie Leah Stremmel had little action in the cage thanks to the defensive backfield combination of Emma Maxwell, Cadence Jefferson and Jillyin Citro.
“It’s starting to come together, and we are working as a team,” said coach Cindy Brown. “The girls learned at the beginning of the season that it takes all 11 players on the field to be successful.”
