Patricia Dell Brock, devoted to family

Patricia Dell Brock, 79, of Millsboro, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Delaware Hospice Center Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011.

Born in Seattle, Wash., Sept. 10, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Malcom and Bonnie McCloud Nickerson. She was a woman devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook for them, and didn’t hesitate to keep everybody in line, and was always happy. She loved her “soaps” and jigsaw puzzles, and loved to crochet.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Ronald D. Brock, whom she married in Dover in 1987. She is also survived by her children: Michelle Morgan, of Clarksfork, Idaho, Ralph E. Whitley Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Millsboro, Ronald O. Whitley and his wife Brenda of Jefferson City, Mo. and Catherine Webb and her husband Harry of Dagsboro; and a son-in-law: Calvin Hudson. In addition, she is survived by her siblings: Claudia Adams, of Largo, Md. and Dale Nickerson, of Medford, Ore. She was preceded by two daughters: Patricia Hudson, in 2003 and Candice Gudzelak, in 2009. She has 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many “adopted” grandchildren she graciously took on as her own. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. She is also survived by her beloved seven cats; and was preceded by her beloved canine friend Sammy.

A celebration of her life, and a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Bob Hudson will officiate. Interment will be private.
