UUSD to screen ‘Radical Harmonies’ documentary March 1

In observance of Women’s History Month, UUSD will show “Radical Harmonies,” an award-winning documentary, at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 1, at the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware. The screening is open to the public. A freewill offering will be accepted.

This full-length documentary chronicles the Women's Music Cultural Network, which emerged during the second wave of feminism, and its evolution from a girl with a guitar to a revolution in the roles of women in music and culture. The film includes performers such as Ani Defranco, Alix Dobkin, Indigo Girls, Holly Near, Tribe 8, Mary Watkins and Cris Williamson, as well as Washington, D.C.-area artists Meg Christian, Casse Culver, Toshi Reagon and Sweet Honey in the Rock.

The film also highlights the infrastructure that made possible the recording, production and dissemination of the work of these talented performers.

“Radical Harmonies” was released by Woman Vision in 2002. Dee Mosbacher is the film’s director and executive producer. Boden Sandstrom, a UUSD member, was the film’s co-producer. She will facilitate a discussion after the screening.
