Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market to open May 7

April 23, 2019

The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market, rated as one of the top markets in Delaware, will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, in Grove Park. The market will run weekly through October.

Pat Coluzzi, market master, announced that there are approximately 45 vendors for the season, including many who have been with the market since its inception 12 years ago.

In addition to fresh seasonal produce, meats and poultry products, prepared food is available to be eaten at the picnic tables in the park or taken home. Local musicians provide entertainment during shopping hours. The green tent is back with a full schedule of interesting programs about environmental and conservation issues important to the community.

The Rehoboth Beach Public Library holds a children’s story time at the market during the summer months. Many vendors will accept WIC and senior coupons beginning in June.

To help reduce its carbon footprint, market vendors this year will be using paper bags instead of plastic. The ever-popular Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market insulated cloth bags will be sold at the information tent, along with items such as dish towels, hats and cutting boards. These sales help with the cost of maintaining the market tents.

A nonprofit market, the Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market is true to its motto of real food, real farmers and real community.

Coluzzi and the vendors are eager to welcome folks from Rehoboth Beach and surrounding communities for its 13th season of providing fresh, healthy and delicious home-grown food products.

Grove Park is at the lighthouse circle behind the chamber of commerce visitor center. Parking is available on Columbia Avenue and Henlopen Avenue. Summer hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in June, July and August.
