Author Eric O'Grey to speak at VegFest in Rehoboth May 18

May 14, 2019

Rehoboth Beach VegFest announced Eric O'Grey, director of philanthropy for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, has joined its speaker lineup for Saturday, May 18. Grey will share his inspiring story at 2 p.m. in place of Dr. Kerry Foley, who is unable to attend. O'Grey is a motivational speaker and author of “Walking with Peety.”

In 2010 at age 51, O'Grey was 340 pounds at 5-feet-10-inches tall, his waist was 52 inches, and he wore 4XL shirts. He had type 2 diabetes, his total cholesterol was almost 400, and his blood pressure was out of control. His doctor made this recommendation: eat more plants and adopt a dog from the shelter. Over the course of one year, O’Grey’s weight dropped to 180 pounds. He no longer has type 2 diabetes, and all his other health problems were reversed. He no longer takes any medications.

In addition to O'Grey, Kristin Jackson of V-Trap will do a cooking demo, Sanah Baig will share the latest in clean meat, and Charles Wolfe of VegDover and Stephen Scheffer, Rehoboth Beach commissioner, will share their personal journeys toward health through plant-based diets.

The three-day VegFest will kick off with a film screening of "The Last Pig" at 6 p.m., Friday, May 17, at the Lewes Public Library.
