Atlantic U14 lacrosse wins ESYLA championship

The Atlantic U14 lacrosse team defeated Talbot 11-6 to take the Eastern Shore Youth Lacrosse Association Championship May 20 at the DE Turf Complex. They finished the season with an undefeated 8-0 record.
Tatum Friend led Atlantic with three goals in the game. Sanne Elling and Sarah Naar added two tallies. Lulu Rishko, Lexi Nowakowski, Olivia Burkentine and Natalie Pfaff each scored a single goal.
“Atlantic’s U14 girls’ lacrosse team this year epitomized a team-first attitude, with girls playing many different positions to help the team be successful,” said head coach Andy Nowakowski. “They were led by a solid eighth-grade class that has won three championships in a row. The championship game tonight illustrated the unselfish play, as over half of the the goals scored were assisted by attackers. Great goaltending, good defense, and midfield strength were the difference in a competitive championship game.”
The Eastern Shore Youth Lacrosse Association includes eight teams from Delaware and Maryland.
