Unplugging at Rancho la Puerta with Cape Gazette

June 16, 2019

Recently, Kathy Connelly of Rehoboth Beach traveled to Tecate, Mexico (home of Tecate Beer) with her daughter, Lauren Whitehouse of Santa Monica, California.

“My daughter and I met up for our second visit together to heaven on earth, Rancho la Puerta,” said Kathy. “Founded in 1940, the ranch is family-owned and operated. In fact, the week we were there was a big celebration for the owner, Deborah Szekely. She was celebrating her 97th birthday. Located on over 4000 acres of beautiful lush grounds at the base of Mt. Kuchumaa, the views are inspiring and uplifting. A sustainable organic garden feeds the guests with delicious, healthy delights. We loved partaking in hikes, various exercise and mindfulness classes, pickleball, swimming and much more for a luxurious week of taking care of ourselves. Cell phones are discouraged and can only be used in your casita or in the main lounge, making “unplugging” a part of the experience. This was my fourth visit to the ranch in 28 years and I plan on returning next year with a friend from Lewes.”
