Women’s Club of Milton to unveil pollinator preserve June 30

The Women's Club of Milton will unveil its new pollinator preserve garden at a reception from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 30, in the courtyard of the Milton Historical Society. Designed to attract bees, butterflies and birds, the pollinator preserve is a garden located next to the museum at 214 Union St., the former home of Carol Thomas. The museum purchased the property about two years ago.

The reception will be free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served and Al Frantic will provide musical entertainment. At 1:30 p.m., organizers will recognize all those present who helped bring this project to life. During the reception, attendees are invited to stroll through the garden and ask questions about the project. A pie of the month silent auction item will up for bidding. The winning bidder will received a homemade pie every month for a year.

Over 300 pollinating plants have been planted in the garden, along with a bird bath and a mason bee/butterfly house. A concrete bench donated to the project by the Milton Garden Club sits in the garden under the shade of a redbud tree. At the reception, people can view before and after photos of the garden as well as hear future plans for the garden.
