Overfalls Foundation awards scholarships

The Overfalls Foundation announced that Vienna Iacona and Morgan Schwab, both recent Cape Henlopen graduates, are the recipients of its 2019 scholarships.

This ongoing program has awarded eight scholarships over the past four years to students pursuing degrees in maritime, marine or environmental studies.

Iacona plans include to study environmental engineering at the University of Delaware starting this fall. During her high school career, she participated in varsity cross country and indoor track, lacrosse and the National Honor Society. She founded and served as president of the Surfriders chapter at her school. Fluent in Italian, she has been a leader who has always demonstrated a positive attitude.

Schwab, who aspires to be a marine or livestock veterinarian, will begin her studies at the University of Delaware this fall. In high school, she participated in Best Buddies, which helps create an inclusive environment for students with disabilities. She served as secretary of the Future Farmers of America, and was in the National Honor Society. Singing and theater are other interests of this outgoing and adventurous student.

The Overfalls Foundation is custodian to the Lightship Overfalls in Lewes Canalfront Park.
