Kiwanis Club recognizes Cpl. Brian Page as police officer of the quarter

November 2, 2011

The Kiwanis Club of Coastal Delaware recognized Cpl. Brian J. Page with the 2012 Police Officer of the Quarter Award. In his work with the Canine Unit, Page has shown an extraordinary ability to personify the Objects of Kiwanis in all facets of his life - work, community and family - while serving the citizens of the coastal community.

The award includes a gift to Camp Barnes, the camp the Delaware Association of Chiefs of Police established in 1947 for the recreation of deserving youth from throughout the first state.

Page came to the Delaware State Police in 2007 after a career in the United States Air Force, where he was a military police officer and K-9 handler. He has been recognized many times for his work as a K-9 handler. He has been so successful in handling his canine partner, the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team selected him to work with them. He uses his dog as an assailant apprehension unit.

As a canine officer, he helps citizens of Delaware understand the importance of canine units by doing almost monthly demonstrations. These demonstrations and many of his duties as a K9 handler take place during his off time. Page pays attention to the small details because of his concern for being the best he can be and doing what is right all of the time. Page has been selected three years in a row to speak to new recruits about how to succeed as a Delaware State Police trooper.

The Coastal Delaware Kiwanis Club has been working since 1928 to improve the lives of children and the community. Through the Objects of Kiwanis, Kiwanians give primacy to human values through living the Golden Rule. Members promote higher social, business, and professional standards to develop a serviceable citizenship giving altruistic service to build better communities and thus increase justice, patriotism, and goodwill. Page personifies these objects in his career and life.

Membership in Kiwanis is open all adults over the age of 18. In addition to the rewarding service work of Kiwanis, members build great friendships and receive other social benefits.
