Turnstone Builders holds open house for Idea Center

November 9, 2011

Turnstone Builders held a ribbon cutting Oct. 13, when more than 100 guests attended the official opening of Turnstone's offices and Idea Center.

Located in a newly renovated building on Coastal Highway across from the Big Fish Grill in Rehoboth, the Turnstone complex features a showroom filled with samples of intricate tile, exotic floors, finely crafted kitchen cabinetry and countertops, and diverse exterior features. What was once a plain cinderblock rectangle is now an attractive commercial structure on the highway.

“Our mission is to help our clients build beautiful homes and inspire their imagination. In our new Idea Center, our clients will be able to add color and life to the floor plans that they’ve envisioned,” said JoAnn Babbie, Turnstone’s operations manager. “Instead of running around looking for samples, they can come in here and really enjoy the creative process of planning a home.”

Turnstone Builders takes ideas from concept to completion with the use of the latest in technology and building materials. The Idea Center is a must-see for individuals ready to start building a custom home and a destination for those planning to renovate or create more space for their evolving lives.

Turnstone’s Chief Financial Officer Dave Eppes said that with a staff of highly talented people with complementary skills and an anchor in a prime location, the company is poised to grow rapidly and responsibly as the new home market recovers. “We have built a team of great people who love what they do. They are really motivated to grow our company by building terrific homes for our customers,” Eppes said.

In the process, Turnstone is also strategically tackling two common misconceptions about custom-home construction: that it’s costly, and the process is riddled with frustration.

Recent projects include everything from the renovation of individual rooms to the construction of a 7,000-plus-square-foot ocean block home. Prices for new construction begin in the high $200,000s and extend to multimillion-dollar luxury homes built with insulated concrete forms. “Although the majority of our projects are still traditional wood-frame structures, we are experiencing a lot more interest in the benefits of ICF construction, which naturally drives people to Turnstone because of our experience with the technology,” said Managing Director Harvey Ryan. “Once you show people how beautiful a concrete home can be, they open their minds and begin to focus on all the tremendous benefits.”

Through the use of ICF technology, Turnstone is raising the bar for coastal construction by erecting homes that are not only beautiful but also sturdy enough to withstand the forces of nature - or as Turnstone prefers to say, homes that the forces of nature respect.
