Cape Gazette visits ‘Duke’ and acquires the secret family recipe of Bush’s Baked Beans

January 5, 2020

During a fall trip to the Great Smoky Mountains, Bob and Mary Roche stopped to visit “Duke” and to obtain the secret family recipe at Bush’s Baked Beans visitor center in Chestnut Hill, Tennessee.

Their itinerary began in Louisville, Kentucky, where they visited Churchill Downs, home of the thoroughbred racetrack that hosts the Kentucky Derby and Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory.

From there they toured 2 private horse farms in Lexington, visited lively Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and experienced the deciduous forest of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The final destination for Bob and Mary was in Asheville, North Carolina, where they toured the Biltmore Estate, where in 1895, George Vanderbilt decided to build “a little mountain escape” in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
