Milton firefighters hold awards banquet

February 24, 2020

Milton Fire Department held its Fire Prevention Awards Jan. 14, recognizing 44 area students for essays and posters about preventing fires and fire safety.

The four participating schools were: Delmarva Christian Academy, Milton Elementary School, H.O. Brittingham Elementary School and Mariner Middle School. Students in kindergarten through third grade made posters, while students in fourth through eighth grade wrote essays.

Winning students were photographed with firefighters who had just come from a real fire. The day of the awards, a fire broke out at Snookie’s Automotive and Speed Parts. Firefighter T.J. Stewart was still wearing his gear, but he still presented awards and congratulated the winners.
