Rehoboth environment committee to meet Jan. 23
The Rehoboth Beach Environment Committee has scheduled a meeting for 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a discussion on single-use plastics and a presentation on the impacts of 5G technology. Lewes police committee meets Jan. 21
The Lewes Police Department AdHoc Committee will meet at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21, at city hall. The group will discuss the implementation of the 2005 study of the Lewes Police Department, the department’s programmatic priorities and operational efficiencies, and a preliminary draft of recommendations to mayor and city council. Lewes byway committee to meet Jan. 22
The Historic Lewes Scenic Byway Committee will meet at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, at city hall. The group will receive an update on the railroad swing bridge project, discuss a center turn lane for Savannah Road proposed by the Five Points Working Group, and discuss the status of various projects in and around Lewes. Lewes BPW set to meet Jan. 22
The Lewes Board of Public Works will meet at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, at city hall. The board will discuss an electric system study performed by Sargent & Lundy, set a date for a budget workshop and review the 2020 BPW election. For more information, call the BPW at 302-645-6228.

Cape school board meets Jan. 23
The Cape Henlopen school board will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, at Love Creek Elementary. Members will possibly vote on the 2020 fiscal year budget, on a spring 2020 referendum and on the student code of conduct matrix. Delaware Department of Education Secretary Susan Bunting will present banners to the district’s recognition schools. 

Recycling Advisory Council to meet Jan. 22
Delaware’s Recycling Public Advisory Council will meet at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the DelDOT building in the Felton-Farmington conference room, 800 Bay Road, Dover.

The Recycling Public Advisory Council was enacted into law by Senate Bill 234 in May 2010, and charged with advising the Governor’s Office, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, and the Delaware Solid Waste Authority on all aspects of recycling, including: development of grant criteria and selection of applications; a methodology for measuring recycling rates; and possible outreach activities designed to achieve higher recycling rates for the state.

Democrats to hold joint meeting Jan. 22
The 14th RD Democratic Committee and the Eastern Sussex Democratic Club’s joint Wednesday, Jan. 22 meeting will feature a distinguished panel of African-American community leaders who will discuss Reaching Out to Win – How to Encourage African-American Communities’ Participation in the 2020 Election. The panel includes Faye Blake, Bill Collick, Bernice Edwards, Jane Hovington, Charlotte King and Waynne Paskins. Registration begins at 5:15 p.m., buffet dinner ($25 for ESD members and $30 for guests) begins at 6 p.m., and the panel discussion begins at 7 p.m. To register, email  kathhughes925@gmail.com.
