Reading Cape Gazette at Chichen Itza in Mexico while on getaway

February 22, 2020

Cape Gazette readers Steve and Lorrie Walker recently took a 5-day trip to sunny Isla Mujeres, an island where the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea meet.

While there, they went to see the incredible ruins at Chichen Itza, a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya people of the Terminal Classic period.

Chichen Itza represents the blend of a number of architectural styles and is a UNESCO World Heritage area of cultural significance. The architecture and carvings are just breathtaking.

It was a wonderful trip for Steve and Lorrie in the middle of winter, even though Delmarva has escaped the harsh weather so far. Let’s hope it stays that way.
