As I have been reading recent Letters to the Editor, it reminds me of the state of our wonderful country.
The pro-Democrats and Republicans have used this section to bash our president or justify his actions when we should be using the column to thank all of our healthcare and EMS workers for putting their lives at risk for all of us.
We should thank all the grocery store employees for being there so that we can purchase food to eat at home. We should be thanking the restaurants and their employees for providing takeout service so we again have food to eat. These are just a few essential services that are there for us.
So the next time you are sitting at home with nothing to do, thinking about writing a letter to the editor to bash or support our public officials for their dealings with an unprecedented issue, think about some of the things we should be grateful for.
The next time you go to the grocery store, just say “thanks” to two employees. The next time you go out and you see a person from the medical field, just say “thank you.” The next time you order food for takeout, say “thanks” to the people behind the counter.
I think we should all be more thankful for what we have during this most difficult time instead of being divided by political philosophies.
Let’s all of us try and show our appreciation for those who are serving us and helping us survive. A simple
“Thank you” will go a long way.

To submit a letter to the editor for publishing, send an email to viewpoints@capegazette.com. All letters are considered at the discretion of the newsroom and published as space allows.
