Rehoboth gathers for tree-lighting

The Becker family, who donated a tree that had grown for 50 years in the front yard of their James Street home, was on hand to throw the switch, lighting the tree. Dancing together to the holiday music are Lia and Dominic Limongelli from Pennsylvania.
The Bandstand turned into a dance floor for happy children at the tree lighting.
Getting their request to Santa in early are Caroline and Anthony Marvel of Lewes.
Leading the sing-along are Mrs. Claus, Nancy Joseph, and Doug James.

The annual Rehoboth Beach Tree Lighting and Hometown Sing-a-Long, sponsored by Rehoboth Beach Main Street, was greeted by mild weather Nov. 25 that brought a large crowd of locals and visitors to the Bandstand, ready to kick off the holiday season. The countdown from five signaled the lighting of the Christmas tree to the cheers of the crowd. Santa opened his house on the Boardwalk, and the line stretched down the Boardwalk all evening. The Becker family of Rehoboth Beach donated the tree this year.
