Milton Community Foundation launches effort to support families

April 16, 2020

When the Milton Community Foundation was founded in 2005, one of its stated purposes was to receive funds on behalf of the Milton community for public or individual assistance. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are people in Milton facing harsh realities through no fault of their own. In this time of need, the Milton Community Foundation is reaching out to various Milton civic, business and religious groups to identify families needing some financial assistance, because they are confident that others in Milton want to help, but aren’t certain how best to do this.

To support this effort, MCF has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help Milton families in need. Donations can be made to Milton DE COVID-19 Relief  (https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/milton-de-covid-19-relief) or by sending a check to the Milton Community Foundation, PO Box 12, Milton, DE 19968. Note “COVID-19 Relief” on the check.

Community member Susan Bennett has already reached out to MCF to help. She is starting an effort to raise money by offering to take front-porch family photos for a donation to the MCF.  For more information, she can be reached at sebennett24@comcast.net.

With creative ideas like this, the town of Milton and MCF will be able to help in-need residents and offer hope to those facing dark times.

Working through other organizations, the MCF will provide identified families in need with Food Lion Gift Cards to help them get through this crisis. Any funds left over at the end of this effort will be donated to the Milton Community Food Pantry.

The Milton Community Foundation board sincerely thanks people in advance for their support in these trying times.
