George Sherman celebrates 50-year partnership with Penco

June 24, 2010

George Sherman Corp. of Lewes, Milton and Dover is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010. George Sherman Corp. is a family-owned plumbing, heating and air-conditioning service and contracting company that employs more than 60 employees.

Another 50th anniversary that was also recently celebrated is the business relationship between George Sherman Corp. and Penco Corp. of Seaford. Members of Penco’s management team visited the Lewes office of George Sherman and presented the company with a plaque honoring their 50 years of doing business together.

“It’s extremely rare for companies to achieve a 50th anniversary – not to mention two companies doing business together for 50 years,” said Kent Peterson, Penco executive vice president. Penco has been a supplier to George Sherman since the company was started by George Sherman and Clarence Donovan in 1960. “Both our companies have survived generational changes and are market leaders in our respective industries.”

Penco, started in Seaford in 1949, is a plumbing, heating and air-conditioning equipment and supplies firm. Penco has four locations in Delaware and two in Maryland. The daily operations of the company are managed by Jeff Peterson and Scott Sapna, who are third-generation members of the founding families.
