Spirit Halloween to be in former Kmart this year
After years in the Rehoboth Mall complex, Spirit Halloween will be housed in the former Kmart store this year. The space where the seasonal Halloween store was located is now home to West Marine.
Signs announcing Spirit Halloween is hiring have been placed on the front door of the store. The signs say opening soon but do not provide a specific date. According to the Spirit Halloween website, the company was purchased by Spencer Gifts in 1999, and has grown from 63 locations to more than 1,300 across the United States and Canada.
The former Kmart property, 19563 Coastal Highway, went through a significant redevelopment in 2017, when the 56,700-square-foot space was refurbished and turned into three stores – Kmart, andThat!, and PetSmart. Transformco, the company that owns Kmart, announced that the local outlet would close in late 2019. By early 2020, the store was vacant.
