Cape Henlopen School District officials announced Sept. 22 they were advised a Cape High student tested positive for COVID-19.
The student will not return to school until the 14-day quarantine period has passed, officials said.
In this instance, social distancing and mask-wearing was practiced consistently and the Division of Public Health advised that no further quarantining by staff or students is warranted, officials said; individual families will be contacted as necessary.
Parents are asked to continue monitoring their children every day for any symptoms of COVID-19 using the COVID-19 Self-Screening Tool.
District officials said Cape High adheres to strict cleaning, social distancing and hygiene protocols as the best defense against COVID-19 and its spread.
