Ellen Magee appointed as register of wills
Ellen Magee, chair of the Sussex County Board of Adjustment, has been appointed by Gov. John Carney to serve as Sussex County Register of Wills.
Democrat Magee will replace Republican Cindy Green of Greenwood, who won the election for the Sussex County District 2 seat. Under the Delaware Constitution, Magee will serve until January 2023. An election will be held in November 2022 to select the next register of wills. Green had served in the office since 2010.
District 5 Sussex County Councilman John Rieley will nominate a replacement to take Magee’s seat on the board of adjustment, who in turn must be approved by county council.
Magee, 61, of Selbyville, is co-owner of Magee Farms, a family-owned and -operated business since 1865 in Sussex County. Magee was appointed to the board of adjustment in 2017 and ran unsuccessfully for county council against Rieley in 2018.
She also serves on the Delaware Board of Charitable Gaming, an appointment by the governor confirmed by the Delaware Senate, and on the board of directors for Camp Barnes. Magee is a past board member of the Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation and has served in leadership roles with the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she is a lifetime member.

I want to thank Ellen for stepping up and for her willingness to serve.”
